Olvin is a coffee producer born and raised in El Guayabillo, a small community located up in the mountains of San José del Pito, in
San Sebastián, Lempira. His father Juan Hernández and mother,
Alicia Pascual are coffee producers as well.
He did not want to keep studying after the fourth grade of
primary school, so right after that he joined his father in all the
activities related to coffee farming. By the age of seventeen, his
father gave him a plot of land so he could start growing coffee on
his own. In a nursery, Olvin prepared three-thousand plants of the
Red Paca and IHCAFE90 varieties, and once they were ready, he
planted them.
The next year he got married and later started to have kids. Olvin
has expanded his farm, which also allows him to employ around
15 people from his community during the harvest season.
He has been managing it in an organic way that allows him to
avoid contamination to preserve the natural flora and fauna in the
area and is now processing his coffee in the ecological wet mill his
father Juan acquired thanks to their partner Bon Café in 2020.
